Here are some details that will help you understand your package and get the most out of it.
This package is designed to help you prepare physically and mentally for a running adventure.
Your running adventure can be anything, it is what you find exciting and challenging. It may be to run 15 km around the area where you live or something as extravagant as a ultra mountain run in the pyrenees.
We have helped lots of people prepare for and acheive their running goals and we are looking forward to helping you.
The package includes several elements that are described on this webpage, which includes links to other resources that you may find useful.
One to Ones
When you join the plan you will have a 45 minute one to one session with one of our coaches using Skype or a similar internet forum.
The one to one will help you:
Understand the basis of your training plan;
Understand how to adjust the training plan to meet your personal goals;
Learn how to set and update training zones that you can use to get the most out of your training plan.
The Training Plans
You will be given access to our group running training plan that is flexible and designed to help you prepare for your running events.
The basis of the plan is the same for all group members but is designed in such a way that it can be modified to meet your needs, fitness, experience and personal goals.
We will explain how you can use the plan to make it specific to your needs during a 45 minute, one to one meeting between you and one of our coaches to make sure that you get everything set up perfectly. Our coaches will also be on hand to help you along the way.
The plan includes workouts that are designated A, B and C to help you understand how to priorise your training. There are 3 or 4 A workouts, which we consider to be the most important sessions of the week and you should aim to do these each week as a minimum. If you have time and you are fit enough to benefit from more training volume, you should do both A and B workouts and if you have time and fitness, you can do A, B and C workouts. We will discuss how to start and progress your training using this system during your one to one and also provide ongoing help via email and the online groups.
The workouts are planned to work optimally on certain days, but if you have commitments to work around, we will help you move workouts around to fit your life without compromising your training plan. Also, if you have other activities, like gym classes that you like to attend, we will help you undertand how to substitute these into your plan so that you continue to benefit from these and don’t miss out on positive things that you enjoy.
The training plans will be provided on the TrainingPeaks online platform that allows you to record and analyse your data as well as see the details of the plan. We will provide you with a TrainingPeaks Premium subscription as part of your plan and your TrainingPeaks account will remain attached to the coaching account of your assigned coach, so that they can quickly respond to your questions and queries.
The plans are based on perceived exertion (RPE) and training zones that you can assign to either heart rate, pace or run power. We will help you work out how best to work with RPE and/or training zones and each workout will give guidelines on how you should be feeling during each aspect of intensity.
For the harder sessions where the intensity of effort is more important, we will either provide specific pace, power or heart rate goals within the session plan or help you understand how to modify the sessions within your TrainingPeaks planner to give you the right basis for your sessions.
You will also become part of an online community, where you can share ideas, ask questions and learn from us and each other. We will be monitoring the community and answering questions every day. This will use a closed Facebook group.
We hold weekly online hangouts with our athletes where we discuss topics relevant to endurance trail running and long-distance cycling events, learning and sharing from each other. These events are attended by some very experienced and successful endurance athletes who freely share their knowledge and experience. They are great fun and an invaluable resource.
We also hold a monthly workshop that is led by one of our coaching team on a topic chosen by the group. These sessions often lead to discussions and sharing of personal experiences in group chats and on our Facebook Group.
Unlimited email support
We will be on hand to help you directly via email, so that you can ask us about anything that you feel you don’t want to share with the group or feel is specific to you. We will aim to answer all emails within 3 days of receiving them.
